As the Spring season has already begun, the ensuing warmer temperatures and subsequent thawing of snow and ice will require a substantial clean-up effort from the City and all of our stakeholders who operate within the City's right-of-way. Not only is this necessary to keep our city clean and attractive, but the removal of any construction debris and attention to winter damage is an important aspect of maintaining safe pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicular flow in our transportation network.

To help with our efforts this Spring 2015, we are requesting your assistance in relaying information to all of your members. Specifically, we would like to remind those undertaking construction activities in the right-of-way to ensure that all work zone sites are cleaned of liner, graffiti and debris; that hoarding is properly located and in good condition; and that required traffic control measures such as signage and roadway line striping are working properly and in the appropriate locations. All measures should reflect the requirements as outlined in the relevant permits.

Please note that the City of Toronto will be increasing its enforcement efforts of construction sites over the next few weeks, in cooperation with the Toronto Police Service. We are providing this letter as a courtesy advanced notice, with the hope that site managers will proactively attend to these issues and ensure the utmost level of safety and compliance. We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly. We look forward to and appreciate the continued.
