Doug Ford Introduces Ontario’s New Provincial Cabinet

Following a third successful re-election, Premier Doug Ford and his new government were officially sworn in today, announcing a new Cabinet with some changes to Ministers in key portfolios.

Key Ministerial Portfolios:

• Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure?
• Rob Flack, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, who previously served as Associate Minister of Housing
• Todd McCarthy, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks
• Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation
• Mike Harris, Minister of Natural Resources
• Grayson Smith, Associate Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing
• Andrea Khanjin, Minister of Red-Tape Reduction
• Caroline Mulroney, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Francophone Affairs
• Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance

The Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks will now have responsibility over conservation authorities.

What’s next?

The Legislature returns April 14th, and a Throne Speech will be delivered on April 15th to set the government’s legislative agenda for the new session.

Over the coming weeks, the government will remain focused on addressing President Trump’s tariffs, and work closely with their provincial and federal counterparts on finding an appropriate way forward. Expect the government to make announcements on measures to protect Ontario’s businesses, families and workers in the coming days.

We can also expect the government to focus on additional investments in infrastructure, reducing red tape for construction, and incentivizing municipalities to cut development charges and move forward with municipal infrastructure projects. Encouraging municipalities to tender billions of dollars of projects was also a key item in their recent election platform.

The OSWCA will continue to work closely with the provincial government to advocate for long-term solutions to funding infrastructure, reducing red tape and getting municipal infrastructure projects out to market faster.
