GTHA TRAFFIC CRISIS LINKED TO EXCESSIVE CONSTRUCTION

A recent Ipsos poll, conducted for the Toronto Region Board of Trade, reveals that 86% of Greater Toronto and Hamilton-Area residents believe the region is facing a traffic and congestion crisis. The majority attribute this issue to excessive construction or its mismanagement, while others blame the high number of vehicles. Jeff Lang-Weir of the Toronto Region Board of Trade emphasized that the region is lagging behind in essential infrastructure projects, which are crucial for the city’s functioning. The poll also found that 76% of residents support 24-hour construction to help ease congestion, although Steven Crombie from the Ontario Road Builders’ Association cautioned that this solution should be considered on a case-by-case basis.
