What is COR?

The Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program is a comprehensive evaluation of an individual company's health and safety management system (HSMS). To become COR certified, a company must not only have an extensive OH&S Policy and Program, but also be able to pass an audit to demonstrate they actually do what their program says they do. A COR audit is similar to a WSIB Workwell audit in its complexity and requirement for intensive preparation in advance.

The COR system ensures that a company not only has an intensive HSMS, but also has implemented this program into its daily operations. The approach exposes companies who only have a health and safety plan/strategy on paper, but not actually in practice.
