The Ontario College of Trades (OCOT) has announced that beginning December 12, 2016, to receive a Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) to be a Concrete Pump Operator (CPO) all individuals must write a pass a provincial exam. This will not affect those already holding a CofQ as a CPO.
In the lead-up to this new requirement, there are two ways to obtain a CofQ without having to take this test:
1. Active apprentices and Certificate of Apprenticeship holders can apply to become a Journeyperson CPO before December 12; and,
2. Apply for a CofQ through the OCOT Trade Equivalency Assessment process. In order to be eligible for this assessment, 2159 applicable trade hours as a CPO are required.
For more information on this change, please see the attached notice from the College.
