Get out to Vote on June 12 & Help to Stop the Trades Tax

It’s official - Ontario is going to the polls June 12 to elect a new provincial government.

All three major parties - the Liberals, the Progressive Conservatives, and the NDP - are touring the province talking to Ontarians about what their priorities are in this election. It’s time for us to take action and make sure that every candidate knows that it is time to shut down the College of Trades and stop the trades tax!

While other provinces are working to attract more people to the trades, or even competing to attract out-of-province skilled trades workers, Ontario is taxing trades people and raising barriers. We need to grow jobs and create opportunities for young people and make skilled trades more attractive and accessible, not find ways to punish everyone who swings a hammer to support their family.

The Ontario College of Trades wants to force every tradesperson - from carpenters to hairdressers - to get costly licenses, or lose their job. We can’t stand idly by and let this tax grab drag down the economy and kill jobs.

And, most important of all, on June 12 we need to vote for those candidates who make a commitment to ending the trades tax once and for all.

We’re going to need your help. Please watch for further emails from us with information about how you can help. We will be providing letters for you to send to your local media outlets, letters to go to your local candidates, and direction on other ways you can get involved in this election and help kill the trades tax.

In the meantime, please feel free to learn more about the campaign visit www.stopthetradestax.ca. You can also get involved and receive the latest campaign updates by following us on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t hesitate to share this important information with colleagues, friends and family.
