Late on Friday, September 23, the MTO announced that a temporary agreement had been reached to end the trucking protest, which was blockading most aggregate pits in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The letter issued by the Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca outlining the agreement is attached to this bulletin for your reference.

The gist of the agreement is a temporary return to Phase 1 of the Axle Weight Regulation (O.Reg 413/05), which suspends enforcement of axel weight limits and focuses on gross vehicle weight limits, which was in place prior to August 1, 2016. MTO will continue to host its Aggregate-Excavation Working Group to try to find a permanent and equitable resolution to this issue.
