TENDER ALERT – City of Toronto Requiring ISO45001 Audits to be IAF Certified

The City of Toronto has issued a notice that, as of March 31, 2025, all contractors certified with the ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) must do so under an IAF certified audit, otherwise the certification will be deemed invalid. Toronto requires that contracts have a valid OHSMS certification are a requirement for bidding in the City.

Attached are the specific requirements that Toronto will be requiring.

Minister Piccini’s Letter to the IHSA

Also attached is a letter from the Minister of Labour David Piccini to the IHSA noting that COR 2020 and ISO 45001 are equivalent, not noting any requirement for a specific form of audit. We have shared this letter with the City of Toronto.
