On November 21, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) announced that they would be increasing the user-fee for their Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR) which allows for the electronic approvals of certain permits to take water (PTTW). The new fee structure will take effect on December 1, 2016.

The fee increase will apply to two water-taking EASRs: 1) road construction, and 2) construction dewatering. The current EASR fee is $1,190 per registration, but will increase to $1,309 on December 1, with a 10% increase each year thereafter until 2021.

For more information, please consult the attached MOECC PowerPoint presentation which details the reasons for these changes.
